Not long ago, Gett had the pleasure of teaming up with FoodCycle to cook healthy, nutritious meals made from surplus food for people in need at the St Mungo’s Homeless Charity. As much as we love working on delivering a quality service to our customers each day, we also believe in taking a day out of the office to help support our community.

Each year, more than 8 million people in the UK struggle to get enough to eat, whilst at the same time, 12 million tonnes of food is wasted. FoodCycle is a national charity that builds communities through surplus food, volunteers and spare kitchen spaces. The charity creates delicious meals for vulnerable people and is united by the simple belief that food waste and poverty should not co-exist. Agreed!

Thanks to amazing charities like FoodCycle, we were able to prepare 100 wholesome three-course meals for those affected by homelessness. In true MasterChef spirit, these meals were invented on-the-spot as each team received a mystery box containing a limited variety of ingredients. Collaboration, communication and a drizzle of creativity were also all key components!

The whole Gett team had a fantastic, rewarding day bonding whilst giving back to the community. If you would like to make a difference too, volunteering at FoodCycle is open to anyone. ‘Tis the season for giving, and what better way to do so than supporting those who are hungry and lonely. After all,

“No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.” – Max Lucado
